The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

As any significant honors show approaches, there’s always a demand for introducing of new categories to acknowledge overlooked contributions and satisfy the spirits of followers who have specialized interests.

A fellow writer previously argued for a horror game category. That would be fantastic. Equally deserving are strategy board titles, this being someone's personal cause. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to single-minded supporters, I possess a compelling case supporting my request remains most pressing and significant. Here's the proposal: There should be a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Categorizing art by genre isn't exact; it remains highly personal, and inevitably spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why cinema institutions avoid this approach. Yet it remains an unavoidable compromise within the realm of gaming, that demonstrate such variety they hardly constitute a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

Leading game ceremonies currently feature classifications covering Action, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories actually cover numerous genres, making space possible for numerous titles.

Different situation exists for logic-based experiences. No suitable classification appears to accommodate them. Consider three of recent excellent titles, all very different: the architectural riddles of one title, the pulse-pounding block-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. What category would fit them within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games released every year that have no home during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match for categories like Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • A renowned logic title got overlooked in any category in 2014
  • Another imaginative release missed out during that ceremony
  • Popular arranging title got ignored that year
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Value of Brain-Teasers

Commonly they're small games, yet the craft of the puzzle game holds tremendous importance. Iconic mobile puzzle games rank among the most-played games globally and have been for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience competes with popular creative games competing to become highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones for gaming as medium, and they are in conversation with almost every other genre.

Proposal and Rationale

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. One could readily select a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these are games that otherwise have no home during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators function at the hard edge of video game design, developing some of the purest expressions of the video game form. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they merit acknowledgment. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
